Love at first sight – DONISHA M.
My husband and I met at Virginia State University. A mutual friend introduced us to each other. As soon as we met , he told me that I was going to be his wife — I laughed, because I didn’t believe him. I was thinking— you don’t even know me yet. Two years later we got married. 😍
We dated for one year before he proposed.
My proposal was so perfect to me! It was just the two of us! We didn’t have a large crowd of people around to witness the start of our union. I was having a bad day and he got on one knee and asked me to marry him! Of course I said YES! We have been married for 7 years!

It Goes Down in the DM’s — Brittany W.
CJ and I met on instagram after I slid in his DMs one evening. It was the very first time I had ever slid in anybody’s DM‘s, and one time was all it took!
For two years, we were in a long-distance relationship. We took turns most weekends driving back-and-forth between Tennessee and Georgia just to see one another.
I came to Georgia one snowy weekend because CJ told me we were going to a concert at Piedmont Park. Once at the park, the guy at the entrance told us everything was closed or canceled due to the weather. CJ suggested we at least walk around the park in the snow for a bit. I was all down for it because I love snow and they had a cute little hot chocolate station nearby!
After grabbing hot chocolate and walking around for nearly an hour, in high heels, in the SNOW, I calmly asked if he was ready to go home. Little did I know he had been looking for his arranged cameraman the whole time. Eventually he said forget the cameraman and got down on one knee and told me what I meant to him and asked if I would marry him!
Ten months after the proposal we were married in October 2019.

When You Know, You Know — angela W.
In March 2008, the Lord led me to an amazing body of believers. It was a small community at the time (about 50 people) in the process of planting a church. After attending one service, I knew God led me there for a reason and I immediately joined forces with this dynamic group of church planters on a mission to make God known in the community.
Two weeks after attending that first service, I met him. My husband.
We ended up serving in the same ministry. From the very beginning, there was just something about him. His sense of humor, willingness to serve, and love for the Lord were traits I observed right away.
I had a feeling he was interested in me but I did my best to keep my distance. To guard my heart. After all, I wasn’t positive that he was interested. Then, one day in July I received a text from him. He wanted to play a little game of 20 questions. The rules: He got to text the first question. I answer and follow with a question. The first few questions were pretty light. What’s your favorite color? Favorite song? Favorite food? Etcetera. And that continued until 11pm.
The last question (from him): Are you attracted to me? His attempt at shooting his shot. lol! So the cat was finally out of the bag. And our whirlwind courtship began!
On the day of the proposal, I served and attended the first service. He didn’t have to serve that day, so he showed up toward the end of the first service and convinced me to stay for the second service. I obliged because, again, I loved being in his presence.
My parents decided to visit our church that day which wasn’t out of the ordinary. I also noticed a few of his friends and his mom showed up for service, which again wasn’t out of the ordinary.
Service starts. He gets up to use the bathroom.
Again, I knew the flow of service because I’d already been to the first service. So imagine my shock when he gets up on stage and starts talking about love.
Suddenly, it dawned on me. All of those people–my friends, family, his friends, family–were there for us. He was about to PROPOSE!
We had only been dating for 7 months and we’d talked about marriage, but I wasn’t expecting a ring anytime soon. He invited me on stage and proposed in front of family, friends, and our entire congregation! It was a beautiful moment I’ll never forget.

My husband and I met on the dating app, Plenty of Fish. We dated for a year before getting engaged and married a few months after our proposal, in July 2016.
My husband proposed on my birthday which also happened to be my first Mother’s Day. We absconded away to Columbia, SC. After a day of excursions, he sent me out of our hotel room for ice. He spent that time quickly spreading flowers on the bedroom floor and placing tea light candles to set the ambiance. He gifted me a beautiful ring and the rest is history.
We have been married for 6 years!

Worth the Wait — Jasmine L.
We met at a Christian College Ministry Conference in North Carolina.
We dated 1 year before he proposed and 8 months later we were married.
My husband told me that he was performing with a band later that evening and to meet him at a specific place after I got off work. My mom came into town and she and I went together. She was being a bit weird and was too focused on my clothes and hair. Once I got to the “house concert” there were candles lit everywhere and white lights strung around the space where the band was performing. After the band played a couple of songs, I realized my husband, who was rapping, changed the lyrics and began singing about me.
He then got on one knee and proposed to me in front of everyone. It was a dream proposal!
We have been married for 9 years.

We met in college. He actually said that I would be his wife after we met. He was really sweet but it was a lot to take in when meeting someone for the first time!
After our meeting, we were friends for three years and that friendship led to dating for five months. Two months later, we got married and we have been married for seven (7) years.
We kept our wedding simple and our family helped make it a perfect day.
The day he proposed, I was so annoyed with him because he was supposed to pick me up from school, but he was late! Once he arrived, I literally walked beside his car! I did not appreciate him being late! I could have just walked home.
He apologized, and I hopped in his car. We parked in his apartment garage and went to the top floor. Since I was so annoyed, I didn’t notice we were not heading to his apartment. As soon as the garage door opened, there were photos of us and rose petals everywhere! There was even a huge teddy bear, with a “will you marry me sign!”
I realize he was late picking me up because he was preparing the most perfect proposal.

not the usual — natashia o.
We met during summer school in college. We had a class together and when he walked in, I said to my friend, “He’s going to be my husband.” Since he sat in the front of the class, he had to sign the attendance sheet first. Now, I had access to his name and I needed to learn the correct pronunciation so I could strike up a conversation. My goal was to use the class as way to get close to him. That didn’t work out because he changed classes.
But, what did work was this. For two consecutive days he asked me for a pen. The first day I didn’t think anything of it, even though he made sure to return the pen. The second day, I realized that he liked me too because he made sure to return my pen, again.
We dated for 23 months before the first proposal. We were at the same place where we had our first date. As we were preparing to leave I started walking and when I realized he wasn’t beside me, I turned around and he was on one knee. I was surprised because at this point, marriage wasn’t something we had discussed considering we were only 21 years old.
The ring was special. It wasn’t a diamond but instead an emerald, which is my birthstone.
We were engaged for four years and no closer to getting married. We didn’t even have conversations about a wedding because we were focused on finishing college and getting our individual lives together. Fast forward and he proposed again after the birth of our first child.
We were sitting on the edge of the bed watching the Wire and he was holding our son. Out of nowhere, he presented me with a platinum diamond ring and asked me to marry him. Of course, I said yes and this time, we started planning our wedding and were married within three months.
We have been together for 25 years and married for 18 years.

high school sweethearts — sabrina d.
Kinney and I met in 9th grade during 3rd period. He was extremely charming and very handsome. I liked him and I knew that he liked me, but I was too shy to act on anything. One day before Christmas break, I wrote a letter expressing my feelings. For two weeks I waited to see how he truly felt about me. When we returned from Christmas break, he still didn’t have a response.
I thought he really didn’t like me and I was ready to take the L! My friend decided to take matters into her own hands and ask him why he didn’t respond. Eventually, he came to his senses and asked me out.
Since we met in high school we waited awhile before we thought about marriage. We went to separate colleges and decided to try a long distance relationship. We saw each other every weekend and our love continued to grow.
During our Junior year in college, he surprised me with a trip to New Orleans. He asked me if I wanted go for a horse and carriage ridge. At the end of the ride, he got down on one knee and proposed in the middle of the street. All of the bystanders started clapping. It was a night to remember and it still makes me smile so big!
It was such a fairly tale proposal.
Our engagement was about 3 years and at 24 years old, right after college graduation, we got married! It was worth the wait!
We have been together for 20 years will be married for 10 years in April, 2022!
