It’s my favorite time of the year. It’s also the time of the year where I spend most of my time cleaning.
As busy as the holiday season is with cooking, shopping, and home preparation, cleaning is just something else to do. It has to be done though. I can’t stand a messy house! Disorganization and uncleanliness bothers me so I make cleaning more than a task but part of process. I share more on that here.
growing up
Since I’m an only child, I was responsible for washing the dishes – we didn’t have a dishwasher – and keeping the kitchen and my bedroom clean. My mom took care of everything else. We lived in a small 1000sqft house so it didn’t take long.
I had a strategy.
- Wash the dishes
- clean the counter
- sweep the floor
As far as my room – I hung up my clothes as soon as I took them off, made my bed before going to school, swept my floor every other day, dusted every Friday after school, and washed, dried and folded my clothes Saturday nights. It seems like a lot but it wasn’t. I had a system. My room was my place and it was important to me to keep it peaceful.
That has transitioned into my adult life.
All three of my children have chores. We have a fairly large house – 2.5 times the size of my childhood home – so everyone has a responsibility of keeping the house clean.
Thankfully, we don’t have to wear ourselves out with sweeping and vacuuming — too much.

That two hours of Neato cleaning gives me – or us – time to either relax or clean something else. And, coming home to clean floors does something to my inner peace.
4. The Neati D7 remembers multiple floor plans and lets you create No-Go Lines on each, so your robot knows where not to go so it avoids getting stuck. With Christmas fast approaching that means presents under the tree. So, we have already created a No-Go Lines floor plan to avoid the Neato getting close to the tree or the presents.

This sounds like such a neat device. I hear you about the trifecta! I do feel like all I do is clean and prep work. It would be great to have something like this.
We use to have another device but it scratched our concrete floors. This one is much better and in my opinion, more thorough in cleaning.
